Wednesday Wears

My newest shoe purchase arrived a few days ago, so of course I needed an appropriate outfit to pair them with, duh. Emerson Fry was having quite the end of summer sale and I snagged these lovelies for about 85% off!

I’m very serious.

Urban Outfitters Striped Tee; Anthropologie Cat Dress (worn as skirt); H&M Bib Necklace

Patrick and Action Jackson of course had to have their moment in the limelight too…

PS: Please forgive the mediocre quality of my camera… I’m poor.

Local History

Design Brooklyn glimpsed into the past of Bed-Stuy and it’s beautiful architectural details. Makes me want to explore more!

Back to School

I love the idea of grown up school supplies (a la Glitter Guide). After all, that had to be one of the best parts of going back to school – buying new fun things! Starting a new job feels something akin to that first day of school – put on your favorite new outfit, gather up your cute office supplies, and hope you start making friends right off the bat. Here are a few things I brought with me on my first day and a few wish list items:

Image

1. My Lilly Pulitzer Agenda Planner

2. At least one pack of Sharpie ultra fine point color pens

3. Lucite Tape Dispenser and Stapler, duh

4. Something to jazz up that old key card

5. A desk calendar that I’ll love to look at everyday

6. My favorite Lollia hand lotion (found through Allure’s Sample Society)

7. A cute coffee mug that will be unmistakably mine

8. I’d love to try out this rad alternative to the old school moleskin!

9. A fun lunch pail in bright colors to keep your food happy

Doesn’t it all make you miss the days of pop quizzes and school cafeterias?

NC to NY

After a lifetime of dreaming about living in New York City, I’ve finally made my way here. Patrick and I packed up, hit the road and moved into our first NYC apartment just over 3 weeks ago. We’ve been unpacking, navigating the trains, and generally adjusting to our new life here.

We seriously lucked out and found an amazing apartment in Bed-Stuy. Our landlords actually live above our brownstone basement apartment and couldn’t be nicer (seriously, they even offered that we join them on their weekly drive to Trader Joe’s if we ever want!). The apartment is finally unpacked and starting to feel like a home… take a look!

Welcome!

The living room space was just right for our (very large) couch almost didn’t make it into the apartment. It was the very last thing on the moving truck. We were absolutely exhausted and defeated when we realized there was no possible way to fit it through the door. Then our landlord, Gaudericq, stopped by to check on our progress. When he realized the root of our stall he popped the window panes out of the frame and helped Patrick he-man lift the damn thing right on through! Did I mention our landlords are super nice?

I like to call this our North Carolina wall: work from a few of our friends and fabulous artists. My favorite is definitely the paper dolls made in the likeness of Patrick and me by the lovely Jordan Grace Owens.

The Perfectly Imperfect Home is a great book of inspiration – especially when moving to a new space.

The kitchen might be my favorite room in the house. Beautiful stone countertop, gas stove, glass tile backsplash and all new appliances. Even a dishwasher!

The second bedroom is used for many purposes: an office

The master bedroom isn’t quite finished yet, but I’ll share once it’s all done!

I’m hoping that this space will be a good way to tell a few tales about our experience in NYC and to keep in touch with our extended family in NC.

Speak to you all soon,

Crissy
